Q. What are HomeschoolBlogger.com’s FREE Classes?

A. HomeschoolBlogger.com’s FREE Classes are fun, educational webinars that take place in an online event format. No need to drive or find a sitter for the kids—we bring the conference speakers right to you. Covering a vast array of information, you’ll hear about ways to improve your homeschool, plan for the upcoming year, organize your school and life, and much more—all while saving some gas money!

Q. Exactly how do I sign up?

A. After checking out the available free classes, simply click on the blue “Register Now” button. From there, you’ll be linked to a bit more information about the specific HomeschoolBlogger.com’s FREE Class and will need to complete your registration by clicking on the link to GoToWebinar and following the instructions. You will receive a reminder before the class with your personal link to log in.

Q. How will this work? Do I need special software?

A. It’s very simple. High-speed Internet connection and speakers or headphones are all you will need. HomeschoolBlogger.com’s FREE Classes use integrated audio conferencing; you may connect and listen using your computer speakers via VoIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) or call in by telephone.

System Requirements are as follows:
PC-based attendees: Windows® 7, Vista, XP, 2003 Server or 2000
Macintosh®-based attendees: Mac OS® X 10.4.11 (Tiger®) or newer

Q. Is there a schedule online? When will the sessions be held?

A. Coming Soon – You will be able to view/print our full schedule any time; it will be regularly updated. The basic outline for each HSB’s FREE Class is as follows:

FREE Class Title—An exciting topic drawn from all kinds of homeschool subject matter!
Pre-Show Talk—Enjoy a content-rich talk on the FREE Class topic filled with information to help you homeschool.
Main Presentation—Learn more from a company with expertise in the topic area.
All rolled into one fantastic HomeschoolBlogger.com’s FREE Class!

Q. How do I log in to the HomeschoolBlogger.com’s FREE Classes?

A. Once registered, GoToWebinar will send you an email the day before each session, and you will click on a link found inside it. That link is unique to you. You aren’t allowed to share it with others.

Q. How long is each speaker’s presentation?

A. Each HomeschoolBlogger.com’s FREE Class event is typically 2½ hours in length with an optional Q&A time built in. The pre-show begins one hour before the main session and is approximately 45 minutes in length. The main session speaker will generally speak for 60 minutes.

Q. Will there be a video presentation by the speakers?

A. No, you won’t actually see the speaker—but you will hear him/her. Your computer monitor will show a ¾-screen PowerPoint presentation, and you’ll want to make sure your volume is turned up. In ¼ of the window will be a control panel. Each registered attendee will be able to see the numbers of how many are attending, and you will be muted, but a chat box will be available where you can ask a question and get an answer. There will be an interactive feel with lots of fun features.

Q. If I miss any of the HomeschoolBlogger.com’s FREE Classes live, what can I do?

A. You won’t have to miss out! You’ll be able to visit the archived recordings of the sessions at the HomeschoolBlogger.com’s FREE Classes page. Classes will be available for 6 months from their presentation date, so come back and listen again! The archived recordings will lack a few features—live attendees will enjoy virtual fellowship with other homeschoolers, door prizes, and will be able to take part in the live Q&A or polls, which will not be available on the archived recordings—but the great information will all be there!

Q. Will I be able to ask the speaker questions online? How?

A. You will be able to ask your questions and comment to the speakers through instant messaging in the control panel window of your screen. Please limit private messages to the speaker during the session. You will have the opportunity to ask questions once the speaker gives an invitation to receive them. There will be an interactive feel with the capability of lots of fun features—for instance, a speaker could pop up a poll and you’d be able to participate.

Q. Can I chat with other attendees?

A. Yes! When you type in the chat box, all attendees, organizers, and hostesses can see your message. You can also send private chats to a specific person by clicking on the drop-down box in the chat feature and selecting the person’s name that you wish to message. Any technical questions should be sent to the “organizers.”

Q. Is there anything that I can read to help explain the technical part of things?

A. Yes! The GoToWebinar_Attendee_QuickRef_Guide should help.

Q. Can you help me if I have audio trouble?

A. We’ll do our best. If you’re logged into the session, you can always post a question to the hostess. Most audio issues are due to a person’s Internet connection or a sound card/memory issue. Because the conference is a LIVE event, it does use quite a bit of bandwidth. You might need to ask other people at your house to stay off the Internet while you’re logged in to the HomeschoolBlogger.com’s FREE Class and make sure that you close other windows and applications.

Q. What’s “the catch”?

A. HomeschoolBlogger.com’s FREE Classes really are free. Our only limitation is in regard to the number of live participants we are able to pack into the virtual meeting hall. For more information on this, please read our Disclaimer.
